My Philosophy
I believe with all my heart that the birth of a child is a normal and significant event in a family's life. I believe that if a mother and baby are left to labor with minimal to no intervention that birth will happen in the miraculous way nature intends it.
I also believe that women have the right to be well informed about their pregnancy, labor, and delivery options so that they can make appropriate decisions for themselves.
I am first and foremost a wife and mother, but the second most influential thing in my life is my passion for supporting women in their journey to motherhood. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and from the moment my OB rotation began I knew educating and supporting expectant families was my calling.
I sought out a Certified Nurse Midwife to shadow in my "free time" during my last year of nursing school and began working as a labor and delivery nurse immediately following graduation.
I have experience supporting women in births ranging from out-of-hospital water births to planned cesarean sections. I strive to help women feel empowered and supported throughout their birth experience no matter what path it takes.
I am trained by DONA (Doulas of North America). I also work alongside certified lactation consultants assisting mothers with breastfeeding in the first few days after birth. I also currently teach prepared childbirth to expectant families. I love being a part of the journey from beginning to end!
